"Did this procedure cause your prostatitis or did it make your prostatitis worse? I have read many cases where partial prostate surgery has worsened prostatitis, especially TURP."

Profile Information

If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
I had a laser prostate procedure for BPH one month ago. I have had fairly severe pain in my perineum area and pain sometimes severe with urinating. My Dr says I have a "low grade prostatitis" and has me on cipro . I am miserable and wondered if anyone else has experienced this and their experience with treatment. I was always told once you have an infection in your prostate you keep it for life. I am just sick over this. Any advice from Dr or others would be greatly appreciated. This has been a horrible experience with multiple cauterizations due to urinary retention from clots. Thank you.

Did you have any pains like this before the laser? Were you in urinary retention before the laser? Did you have a catheter before or after the laser?

Just as background, it will help those who respond to know a bit more about you, if you're willing to share: Age, overall health ...

It is possible that Cipro will get rid of this, whatever this is? Sure, it's possible.

Will it? Please let us know.

Rand, just a quick update, since we once reviewed alpha blockers. At the recent meeting of the American Urological Association there were some data presented to show that the alpha blocker silodosin was associated with symptomaric reductions as measured by the CPSI. I'm not sure where you are in your situation but thought you should know, in case you wanted to discuss this with your doctor(s).
